Neil Gaiman's The Ocean at the End of the Lane. Wonderful book! I'm currently dealing with a kind of a proper sh*t storm at work... I haven't felt depressed for ages... On Tuesday I did. So I went to a bookstore and bought all Neil Gaiman's books that they had. Should do the trick  :)

Utopia Avenue' by David Mitchell (no, not the guy from 'Would I Lie To You', the bloke who wrote 'Cloud Atlas') a great novel about a fictional band.

There's some fine stuff in Trigger Warning, and the pub that features in "Black Dog"  (the Three Stags Heads at Wardlow Mires) is not that far from where I live - from what you've said about your local in Prague, I think you'd like it!

Re-reading Terry Pratchett's "Witches Abroad" and realising it's probably 30 years since I last read it, when it originally came out!

I'm rather enjoying Quentin Tarentino's novelization of his film 'Once Upon A Time In Hollywood', seems to be available in most UK supermarkets.  A film that certainly divided opinion (I loved it, personally) but if you liked the film you'll love the book, it really goes into the back story of some of the characters (Cliff, in particular) and retells the whole story in a somewhat different way that I won't spoil... it's worth a punt, I picked it up for four quid!

I broke up from school on Thurdsay and have already read Still Life by Val Mc Dermid. Ive not read anything by her before and found it enjoyable. Added bonus was that she lives (and the book is set) where my boyfriend grew up and where is mum still lives.

Started deadkidsongs by Toby Litt last night. I read it about 20 years ago when it first came out and am revisiting.

Recently revisited The Wrong Boy by Willy Russell - loved this the first time and the last time.Very ponient stuff in parts especally now I'm a quallified psychotherapist.

My local Marie Curie shop is selling 4 books for a quid so I'm loving it.

 :)
Whooosshhhh !!!

I'm glad you enjoyed the books! :)

Did you also let out an uncontrollable groan at the end of The Sleeper Awakes:o

When I started to read the last story in Trigger Warning, The Black Dog, it made me leap out of joy as in the very beginning I noticed it's about Shadow... It felt like meeting a long lost friend, I cried out loud "oh my god it's Shadow!!!" as I've missed the character since I read American Gods... What a great feeling :)

Garth Nix's short story collection "To Hold the Bridge" is my current read - some of them have a similar feel to Neil Gaiman's short stories, though perhaps not quite as dark.
