Chameleons Vox - Ashton Under Line Witchwood - 16th & 17th June
New Order - Jodrell Bank - 7th July
Bad Religion - Manchester Ritz - 19th August
I've booked tickets for

Electric Six - Manchester Club Academy - 6th December
The Damned - Manchester Ritz - 14th December
Chameleons Vox - Manchester Ritz - 21st December
I think I'll have to take it easy next year or I could end up embroiled in a messy divorce :D
Will be at Punktoberfest 2013 at Hangar 110, to see Agrotoxico/D.F.C./Os Pedrero/Desacato Civil on Oct 19th, and ANVIL on November 1st, at Inferno.
We saw Peter Gabriel at the O2 a few weeks back, performing all of "So" (and other things) with most of the original lineup.
Well, that was a gig for the ages. Absolutely blooming brilliant. Goosebumps upon goosebumps. Peter Gabriel is an utter legend and he hasn't lost a damn thing. Still has bucketloads of charisma and I don't think his voice has aged a day since he recorded that album.

Gabriel's So and Passion are records I like very much. Gabriel has done also music with Bill Laswell which is another great multitalented musician. Have you heard a project album called The Big Ball? There Peter Gabriel formed a big group of different musicians. The result was some of maybe most emotonally powerful and beautiful songs I've ever heard.
I haven't heard The Big Ball - but I'll definitely look out for it, now!
The PIXIES last night at Hammersmith Apollo. Just jaw droppingly amazing. No chit chat, no pauses, just two hours 35 songs and playing so tight with such amazing sound it was like they had never been away. The new material easily stands up alongside the old favourites.

You know how to make a man jealous >:(
first PiL and now THIS!
Grrrrrrrr
Saw a band called Slaves last night who blew me away, a 2 piece with a really raw but full sound - guess you would call it garage punk. Guitarist and a Singer / Drummer that plays standing up - never seen anyone hit drums (only 2) and cymbols so hard - Excellent new discovery will be seeing them again
Check them out below

Next up for me are the mighty Inner Terrestrials, Credit to the Nation , New Groove Formation on Saturday in Bedford
Stranglers in London this Saturday anyone? I haven't seen them in 22 years... quite excited! :D
Wednesday night,, an acoustic set by Kirk Brandon at Forman's Punk Rock Bar, Nottingham ;)
gaz brookfield at a cellar in Manchester, poor turn out , but he absolutely stormed it. He is free tonight in Derby, and then for all Wiltshire / somerset family he is on at the Griffin in From on Saturday night

Isn't it annoying when a cracking good artist gets a poor turnout? I remember, some years back, seeing a certain Mr Sullivan (on one of his JSAF tours) play a respected venue that was literally just down the road from me. A 500 capacity venue and I think that 50 people (maybe) showed up. I was embarrassed, frankly. Great show, though...
Back to the original point, looks like Fish at the Bilston Robin 2 is gonna be the next one for me (after NMA in Warrington)... I know NMA have played there a couple of times, looks like I'm gonna need to stay in Wolverhampton or get the late train home if I can get back in time, anyone got advice on this one?
I would have went to Morrissey but the bastard canceled once again. I love him as an artist but he does not care about his fans one bit. He blames the support act for him being ill. I think he just has a very, very weak immune system.

Wow. I'd like to see Prong. Here's (https://www.google.fi/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&ei=nZfWVNjwD4bgaLu7gNAO&url=http://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DlfPA8sk8VeY&ved=0CBwQtwIwAQ&usg=AFQjCNEUAKpktK0w-j4WATkBE6GKceR2m) their early song from end of 80's/start of 90's live; In My Veins. Cool!
I saw an irish person cicking too spoons together with mainstream pop music in the background in Kilkenny.
That's about as close to a gig as I have been. It seems most gigs in Ireland are in Dublin.
:)
Seeing 'em tomorrow in Manchester... utter shite? Only time I've seen them previously was in London about four years ago and it was excellent! It's all relative I guess. From a band that has managed for 30 odd years with a drum machine, it's not the most accomplished music in the world; and its an odd beast live. But it's mine and I love it. Hope you do too and what's not to love? Noise, lights, dry ice... Plenty of dry ice. The atmosphere crackles on your skin and in the words of Von "It's just a feeling I get sometimes"
Seeing 'em tomorrow in Manchester... utter shite? What's your verdict, Ray?

Love the way Eldritch deal with the whole 'getting old / don't want anyone to notice' thing. A - flood not only the stage but the whole place with dry ice to the point where you're thinking you're in some kind of cold sauna. B - Aim a blinding light show right into the audiences eyes... I swear, there were times where I was thinking 'shit, is there anyone actually on stage right now?' ;D
As to being 'shite'... yes, I admit, in places they were. It took me a minute to realise that they were playing 'Vision Thing' and that's the title track from one of my favourite albums!
But it was a great gig in a great venue. It was also nice to go around to The Thirsty Scholar, a couple of minuts away, to find a great Northern Soul night going on! Don't mind if I do... :)
Still love the Sisters...
My turn tonight :) Sisters of Mercy in Antwerp.Ah, enjoy :-)
Can I skew the topic just a tiny bit so you can all rejoice in the tale of the worst major band concert I went to ? That would be the Cure. They pissed me off to my very core. They came out and stood. They may as well have been a painting. The audience may as well not have been there. Visions of Jerry Lee Lewis walking out and slapping the lip gloss off Robert Smith's face danced through my head. I don't care how much of a whiny, morose prick you are. Appreciate your fans. Staying at home listening to the albums would have been cheaper. Anyway my dollars no longer go to helping Robert Smith feed his family.Hmmm... Have you never looked at any footage of Cure gigs prior to the concert? It is what it is. You won't see Robert jumping around on stage. Simon, maybe, but that's about it. I don't expect them to.
Yay, Skunk Anansie in Manchester next February!Ooh, I love Skin... Thanks Ray :)

I must have caught them on an off-night. I'm not sure what I was expecting. Not the Clash certainly but also not an oil painting. Also the show was nowhere near that long. But I am very happy to be corrected on my perception of their relationship with the fans. That one night they gave off such an aura of remote indifference it was almost insulted. However I stand corrected and am happier for it.

Just re-activating this one for a second... no band ever gave out so little and expected so much than f-ing Oasis. OK,I hugely enjoyed the Maine Road gig, but that was down to the reaction of the fans and everybody being caught up in the whole Britpop thing. Saw them in Sheffield on the 'Be Here Now' tour and once after that and they were just dreary and terrible...they seriously couldn't be arsed but expected utter worship. Terrible live band.
Now I'll start a new thread about what forthcoming gigs do you plan to go.
Fish: Farewell to Childhood tour.
Trip down memory lane, Marillion was one of my favourite bands when I was 16/17. Great to hear Misplaced Childhood live again. Have not seen Fish solo before but it was fantastic! If you've got the chance go and see the big man
We saw THERAPY? last Wednesday in Kiel, Germany, and they were F*CKING GREAT as always.
I just bought tickets to see The Cure in November 2016 ;D That's what I call planning in advance.

Ticket prices are so outrageous these days - but with The Cure you know that, at least, they are going to play for a couple of hours. ;-)
After a slow start last year with Placebo in March being my first gig, this year has started better with Henry Rollins in Manchester on Tuesday, so looking forward to that. I saw him in 2012 and he was excellent. In February I've got Bob Mould in Manchester and then in March Peter Hook at The Tivoli in Buckley, happy days :D
So far lined up in 2016
[...]
So far this schedule:
Balthazar (this weekend)
La Muerte (next weekend)
Raketkanon (check it out)
Goose
Ministry
The Cure
i went to see them a long, long time ago at rock city, nottingham. Al Jourgensen was a raging heroin addict at the time and according to friends of mine in the Hells Angels (who have run the door at rock city since time began) he hadnt been able to bring methadone prescribed to him in the US into the country, or join the methadone programme here (doctors here cannot prescribe methadone without the patient being registered). so he was refusing to play until someone scored him some smack and the Hells Angels refused to help in any way as they are traditionally massively anti-heroin. in the end we had to give up and go so as not to miss the last bus to leicester. apparently he eventually came on and played to about 100 people for half an hour before the club closed simply to not get sued for breach of contract. long story short- missed them.
Curious to hear how Ministry sound these days. Seen them twice long time ago.
Therapy? supported by Membranes at their Glasgow and Newcastle gigs last weekend - same again in Manchester tomorrow.
Both bands on fine form and well worth going to see.
H
Saw the Sisters last Tuesday in Hamburg - for the first and the last time :o :P
Honestly, that was by far the worst gig by any "professional" band that I ever saw ;D
I can't understand why they still sell out the Palladium in Köln or the Columbiahalle in Berlin.
No creative output on CD in 26 years and a crappy half-playback live show with wannabe rockers.
Saw the Sisters last Tuesday in Hamburg - for the first and the last time :o :PSorry you didn't enjoy it, mate... I love their studio albums and have seen them live a couple of times, had a great night both times.... but they do have a habit of making a total dogs dinner of certain tunes...

I do wish they'd do a fourth album of the 12 or so tracks that they play live but have never recorded.
I think the gigs sell out due the rarity of their live performances...
Backballed, tonight in York :) :)
Saw the Sisters last Tuesday in Hamburg - for the first and the last time :o :PYup, they are quite awful live. It's hard to believe that what is essentially a touring outfit doesn't do a more accomplished live show. I swore I'd never go again after a truly rotten gig in Rock City about 15 years ago, but here I am still going... I saw them again in Leeds in December. No better, but no worse;-) The music just means so much to me...

Just back from spear of destiny - massive thanks to Gary for the ticket. Believe it or not they played stewarton - just a couple of minutes walk away. I'm not a big sod fan only know a few of there songs. A enjoyable night all in all. Weird small venue with no stage - fck knows what possessed them to play stewarton

Love BeardedTheory. Great little festival that. No! Thankfully it would seem. Perfect festival weather this year; wall to wall sunshine :)
Did you go the year the stage blew away because there was a tornado ? Scary as **** !
:o
Stone Roses last Sunday, I miss the 90s. I've never seen as much overt use of white powder anywhere ever!
The Skids are bloody brilliant lockstockboy. "Out of town" "Of one skin" "Circus games", etc etc. They didn't do one bad song in my opinion. Don't forget TV Stars either which was the B-side to Into The Valley ;D ;D
I believe Pol is an admirer also :)
The only Skids tune I know is, obviously, 'Into The Valley'...You can't go wrong with the 3 albums that featured Stuart Adamson before he left which were Scared To Dance, Days In Europa and Circus Games. Plenty of good none album tracks knocking about as well. Could send you anything via WeTransfer if your interested?
Direct me to a great album that's worth checking out! :D

Oooops sorry, I'm assuming everyone knows what I know. Basically it's a site that lets you send music over the internet. You receive a link in an e-mail where you download the music from on to your pc to listen to, it's that easy. I have no idea whatsoever what 'Wetransfer' is... :-\
Saw Eddie Tudor Pole last night.
Bit sad and past it.
I counted 45 people in the room, not much of a crowd in my opinion ,but he thought it was a great turn out for him. Most of the people there were for the local suport band 2 Sick Monkeys.
Kept going on about "when i was in the Sex Pistols...."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't his whole involvement with the Pistols doing one song for the GRARS movie? Which he was in for about thirty seconds?

That's about it.
I'm sure I read somewhere that he auditioned to take the place of John at some point.
the major difference for me was the sense of belonging I feel when in the crowd at an NMA gig I did not get there. --
Indeed what a pleasant surprise and a top gig to boot, how was the other JC in the Roundhouse.
Cheers

Off to see Blackballed again tomorrow night in Newark

BlackBalled end of the week, most excited (http://i.imgur.com/sVpMz34.gif)
Hoping to make The Charlatans... didn't know about Royal blood and Ash touring, will look into that...
On a pissed off note, Skunk Anansie in Manchester tonight was announced as an early start / finish gig so went by public transport, only to find out it was now a late gig with no prior notifications anywhere... had to give it a miss so as not to be stranded overnight... >:(
Thanks for the update. Still hopeful about Ash (Wrexham for you?) and The Charlatans (Manchester?) got a couple of mates interested, depends if I can find someone with a car for the former... might see you there!Yeah going to Wrexham for Ash, tickets already purchased and will do The Charlatans so will say hello to you.
Going to see that there band called Blackballed in Manchester on Thursday and Newark on Saturday :) :)Enjoy, I know I did there a hoot live ;D as you well know.
Its a cracking album really like it, and live they rock :) Fantastic chemistry and Leons as mad as a box of frogs. :D
Saw no key rings though.

Good to hear there doing vinyl will also invest.

Go and support them people you wont regret it, (http://i.imgur.com/h2Yozdg.gif)
Enjoy Red not jealous at all not even a tiny tiny bit :P
Off to good old London for a three day break tomorrow which will end with seeing Madness at a one day festival in Clapham... one of the main support acts is Slaves. new to me but they sound pretty good...Ray - Slaves are good. Have both albums and while the albums don't work as a whole, there's some pretty good tunes laid out in both records. Cheer Up London is cracking tune.

Sounds like a nice plaice
Going to see 'that' other band-Blackballed again on Saturday in Stamford with support from The Saboteurs, a local band from Sleaford and also The Autumn Saints
Should be another good night out :)
Ferocious Dog at the 100 Club on Thurs 29th March
Blackballed at Trillians (Newcastle) on Sat 31st March
Wonder Stuff & Neds Atomic Dustbin at Leicester O2 Academy on Sun 1st April
Wonder Stuff & Neds atomic Dustbin at Leeds O2 Academy on Wednesday 4th April
I remember correctly I've also got 3 days in London watching another band on 13/14/15 April :) :)
Not sure if I or we can be there :(
But the good news is:
Risha - DEE with Hacke (cd out here 22.6.) :D
I had their first album, which I really liked half the tracks on. But the whole album didnt grab me. Just listened to some latet stuff on yowtube. A lot cleaner sounding and more melodic. Not bad at all.
By this time last year I hadn't been to one gig with the first being Skids on 2nd of June in Manchester. Up to now this year I've seen The Damned, Skids, Electric Six (twice), Mutant Monsters, Feeder, UK Subs, Manic Street Preachers and The Charlatans. Tomorrow night I'm of to see The Exploited and I've booked to see Skids, The Midnight Beast and Peter Hook later this year. I'm hoping to book and see Electric Six (again), The Damned (again) and Killing joke and any other band/artist of interest that are playing.Back off my holidays at Butlins in Minehead where I saw MacBUSTED. Bet your all jealous :D :D
Tonight I'm heading to the infamous* Gliderdrome in Boston (Lincolnshire) to see the Levellers
*https://www.thegliderdrome.com/who-s-appeared-at-the-glider/
That would have been Danny, he said the gig was good but didn’t like the corporateness of the event.

Saw The Cure in Hyde Park on Saturday with Editors, Interpol and others supporting. Had a fantastic day. Saw a few NMA shirts so I thought I'd mention it.

Glad you had a great day. I've loved The Cure since the 80's but have never managed to see them live for one reason or another. They're probably the last band who I've yet to put a tick in the 'bands I must see before I die' box. Ah, one day... :-\
Oh, I would have loved to go - but no way...I do hope they'll do another proper tour!!!!
My older son Bob (named after Bobert Smith)had free tickets to go but didn't because his girlfriend was suffering from heat stroke.
Shame.
Blackballed in Gloucester and Cheltenham on Saturday...2 gigs,2 places, same day !!
:)
I'd love to see NMA do The Albert Hall... only been there the once but I thought it was a great venue...I agree its a great venue, but Dave Monk(onstage sound guru)reckons the sounds terrible.Been a few times,Mogwai,Slow Readers Club and Courtney Barnett.
Over the weekend I went :
Electric Eel Shock in Pershore (somewhere near Evesham)
Blackballed in Brizzol
Red Sky Coven in Newbury.

Saw Virginmarys in Lancaster at Yorkshire Taps 18th Feb.
Blackballed Preston 1st March
Ferocious Dog Manchester 5th April
I was there due to my soon to be 14 year old daughters love of music and who of course can not drive hence my involvement. I've never tried to influence her in anyway shape or form in what musical path she takes and I delight in the fact that she loves music as much as me and is so knowledgeable in what she likes. I've got Panic at the disco and Catfish and the bottlemen up and coming and she's mithering about festivals which I'm way to old for but hey, you never know. If you have seen the film Suicide Squad Twenty One Pilots contributed the song Heathens which you may of heard and I actually really like.
A young work mate of mine was at that one, he loved it.
Probably belongs on the 'how you know you are getting old' thread, but it's another example of how a band I've never heard of are playing massive arenas... :-[
You are NEVER too old for Festivals................ 8) ;D ...............
Went to see Bob Mould at the Academy 2 in Manchester last night. My brother was due to go but couldn't due to illness so my 13 year old daughter went in his place. A role reversal from my visit to see Twenty One Pilots the other week, my turn to educate her and she enjoyed herself even though she was stood with a lot of old farts.
Saw Catfish and the Bottlemen at Manchester Arena last night. Not a fan at all but as for most gigs this year up to now, I've taken my 14 daughter as she's heavily into her music and also my son made a guest appearance as he's into them as well. A pretty good performance from them but they don't have an edge to them, if you know what I mean :-\ :-\
Going to see The Macc Lads on Saturday in Buckley but my daughter won't be going to that one.

Cos she's not old enough otherwise I'd of taken her as it was an 18 gig. I had 2 spare tickets which was another downside to it as she missed the wettest concert I've ever seen as the audience chucked beer, water and even piss over them which they took unflinchingly. Top gig which was enjoyed by all .
Midnight Oil in Hamburg last Monday. Fantastic gig.
Will see them at Rock Zottegem early July. Saw them two years ago in Amsterdam, and that was epic. When I bought the tickets, I assumed they would be headlining. They won't. So as usual at festivals, I'll probably be disappointed by the length of their set...
Went to Bremen to see GWAR again and had a real blast!
I was early at the new venue, wanted to check it out before and there i met Matt Maguire = Sawborg Destructo, one of the creative people at Slave Pit, and he was about to search for a saloon to wash his clothing. So i joined him and we walked and talked and so i had the best interview about GWAR ever!;-) I tried to help with the washing machines and the display in german, so i chose machine no. 1, put his money into it and then we found out, that machine 1 was the only one machine out of order;-) Funny...
Then we sat there for an hour talking, he signed my GWAR Book and drew a little painting for me and he took it to the other guys who also signed it. These guys look so frightening on stage and their show is cruel and bloody, but also very funny and in good friendly spirit and underneath the masks, they are just nice open minded people, welcoming fans with no rock-star affectations. Hope they will return to europe again...

Loved your post! Such a great story, thanks so much for sharing it and the super cool photos! I'm almost positive you've seen this next clip, but if not, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Cthulhu! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pe5nBasiOA&t=4s) lol, well... not just yet, and that's just a wild guess, but take it as a small gift anyhow. :) I loved it, when I saw it. Even though, their music isn't really my cup of tea, I quite enjoyed their wit, humour... and am 100% positive you did or will, as well. :)
And imagine me, a rather small tiny (but handsome;.) guy wearing that huge helmet Beefcake the Mighty is wearing. This was so unexpected heavy, i thought it was like styrofoam, but it's actually very heavy. Those guys are dedicated to their show.

Holy fcuk!! :o They let you try on their gear? Must say, that was incredibly beyond generous of them... good on you, Cthulhu!! :D I can't imagine what was going through your mind at the time, or even what it must have felt like, being such a devout fan of GWAR's. Roughly, how much would you say it weighs, 10kgs / 20lbs ? ???
How long does GWAR play for, 1.5 hours, at a typical headlining gig? Just wondering how long he's got the play with the head gear on. Hope it's not too painful, :-\ uncomfortable for him / them.
This is a long story and yes, i was thrilled travelling alone to Netherlands to go to the show and backstage. I had some email konversation with dave brockie before, he knew i was coming and then i was there, backstage, sourrounded by friendly, nice, strange people and many funny things happened. i had a long and very good chat with don drakulich = sleazy p. martini.
and i know that i told him about nma, but i cannot remember what he said, must have been like: "yeah i kind of heard of them. and they are that good?"
i wasn't star struck or something but i didn't want to run around and take selfies and pictures, so i only have a few. the helmet was like a bike-helmet, very heavy (2kgs?) plus the vinyl or what stuff they used put on it. i have a small head but the thing was very tight and yes, that makes sense.
they play a full set which is at least 90mins i would say. but they also did appear for the encores without the costumes, to play almost naked and that was more kind of a 2 hour + show. and once i saw them with a support band: "the ex-cops" which were great, and only found out later that it was those guys playing two bands. that's when i got really respect for them!

We saw The Cure last night in Hamburg which was mostly mediocre to be honest.
Robert had a lot of fun though 😁

Ah well, I think it could be worse ;-)
So, any of you lot got any gigs coming up?
Skunk Anansie in Leeds, April. One of the very best live bands I've ever seen.
